The door handles & lock are replacement items and have been fitted with specially sourced gaskets. The push button pushes a bolt onto the switch that operates the catch mechanism. If the bolt is adjusted too long, the door will just bounce straight open.
Operation of the remote mechanism was also noted to be very difficult & it took some problem solving to work out that the catch can be deliberately fouled by a small adjustable pin. The pin can be moved from the outside of the mechanism so you don't have to take the lock apart !
It was also time to glue in the silent channel strips, which proved to be a fiddly task. Only one could be worked on at time on each door.
With the doors fitted out with locks it was time to fit the door cards.
The cards were checked over for damage, especially at the corners. Then the internal card is used as a template to cut a plastic sheet to be mounted in the aperture as a rain shield. The sheet needed to be heavy grade enough to resist damage. The bottom of the sheet is trimmed to lay inside the door aperture to prevent any water running down and entering the door pockets.
The sheet is glued in place using some instant gasket. The inner card then goes in... followed by the outer pocket section.
The cards are held in place by metal button clips. Those I had were restored and some screw in fastenings sourced to replace any missing ones. These will be hidden by the pocket.
Last task is to fit the window winder and remote operation lever.
And with that.... the doors are done !
